Jenelle Evans' Ex Nathan Griffith Is Regretful For His Time On 'Teen Mom 2', Says Show Cost Him 'A Lot Of Friends And My Reputation'
Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans’ ex Nathan Griffith got candid about his experience on the hit reality show, revealing that it cost him his reputation.
The father-of-two recently told The Sun that his time on the series wasn’t so peachy — and he has a bone to pick with MTV about his portrayal.
“They want to show the struggles of these moms, but they don’t care about what they do to the fathers, or the siblings or anything really — as long as they can show what these moms are going through,” he said. “How they wanted to portray me as a person, isn’t who I really am, and it made my life so difficult because of it.”
“I used to work out with cops, politicians, lawyers, but because of the media, I’ve lost a lot of friends and my reputation,” he told the outlet.
He also explained that his life seemed to explode after he met Evans, with whom he shares 7-year-old son Kaiser.
“I lived in Myrtle Beach for seven or eight years and I was never in trouble once before I met Jenelle Evans,” he said. “And it’s not because of Jenelle Evans, it’s because reality TV puts this stigma on these celebrities.”
He also made the claim that MTV made him “look stupid” on the show, which also affected his career and job opportunities.
“I lost two modeling contracts, one with Jockey and one with 2(X)IST," he claimed. "They both came back to me and said that due to the ‘potential negative publicity’ we cannot move forward with your contract right now.”
Griffith, who suffers from PTSD, also made it a point to explain that his experience on the show worsened his mental health. He told the outlet that unwanted attention from police triggered his PTSD.
“I was dating Jenelle and I was in the spotlight. I would get pulled over all the time. I also have Traumatic Brain Injury on top of PTSD,” he said. “I would feel threatened, and any military man out there would feel this way when someone has a gun, your life feels threatened. Especially when the cop puts his hand on the gun — it’s fight or flight.”
He also recently spoke to The Sun about his current co-parenting relationship with Evans, which has improved over time.
According to their custody agreement, Griffith gets Kaiser for several weeks during the summer, every other weekend, and on some holidays.
