Kelly Clarkson Won't 'Ever Look Back' At Brandon Blackstock Marriage, Felt Ex Was 'Using Her For Her Money': Source
Kelly Clarkson was apparently ready to "Walk Away" from estranged husband Brandon Blackstock a long time ago when she began questioning her soon-to-be ex-husband's intentions.
“She could no longer trust Brandon, and she felt that Brandon was just using her for her money and lifestyle,” a source explained of Clarkson's doubts, noting: “She had tremendous resentment toward him."
Clarkson tried to make their marriage work for their kids' sake, but "she just wasn’t willing to look the other way anymore," the insider candidly said. (The former flames share 7-year-old daughter River and 5-year-old son Remington.) The source pointed out that the 39-year-old endured immense "pain" because of their relationship and eventually had to throw in the towel.
“The marriage was really, really awful at the end,” the insider revealed to Us Weekly, sharing that Clarkson “had a lot of questions that he just couldn’t answer."
Now, the American Idol alum is doing better than ever since walking away from Blackstock, 44. “She hasn’t and won’t ever look back,” the source insisted, noting the Grammy Award winner "has no regrets about filing for divorce."
Clarkson filed for divorce last June after nearly seven years of marriage.
As their divorce proceedings continue, the insider noted Clarkson has already dealt with “a range of emotions” and now just “wants it over with" at this point.
Apart from busying herself with work — Clarkson is currently filming the new season of The Voice — the mother-of-two may use the remainder of her free time to hit the dating scene once she's legally declared single, the insider hinted: "She hasn’t been dating and has been waiting until she is legally divorced, which will be in the next two weeks."
OK! reported the beloved talk show host — who asked the judge to restore her famous last name amid their nasty split — recently took home a huge win in their court battle. Apart from being granted primary custody of their children in November, the judge recently ruled to uphold the co-parents' prenup, meaning Clarkson gets to keep what she earned during their marriage.
Despite being jealous of Clarkson's success, as the insider claimed, Blackstock seemed to want in on her big earnings. The musical manager previously petitioned to nullify their prenup and split their assets in addition to seeking a share of his estranged wife's income.
Meanwhile, Clarkson has also taken some losses, as she's has been ordered to shell out a hefty sum to Blackstock for spousal and child support. She's also responsible for 70% of her children's school tuition and related expenses.
During the ruling, the judge ordered that Blackstock pay for the mortgage on the family's Montana home, given that he is using the ranch as his primary residence. However, since Underwood paid for the Montana home — and the prenup was upheld — she has the right to sell the property.
