From Couture To Cozy PJs! 2020 Emmy Awards Fashion Roundup
Haute at home!
On Sunday, September 20, the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards honored the best in primetime television programming as chosen by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
With the exception of host Jimmy Kimmel and a few in-person presenters, including Jennifer Aniston, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jason Bateman, Laverne Cox, Jason Sudeikis and Anthony Anderson, the ceremony was broadcast from the nominees' homes due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
With no red carpet this year, the typical award show fashion rules went out the window.
"Our informal theme for the night is 'come as you are, but make an effort,'” a letter from the producers to nominees, which was obtained by Variety, read. "If you want to be in formal wear, we’d love that, but equally if you’re in the U.K. and it’s 3 a.m., perhaps you want to be in designer pajamas and record from your bed! We want to work with you to style your moments, but want you to guide us on your levels of comfort — where you want to be, who you want to be with, what you want to wear etc."
