Melania Trump certainly isn’t your conventional First Lady.
The 50-year-old grew up in Slovenia (then part of Yugoslavia), before moving to Milan, Italy when she was 18-year-old to pursue her dreams of modeling.
She moved to the United States in 1996 to continue her career and eventually went on to work on a number of magazine cover shoots including In Style Weddings, New York Magazine, Avenue, Philadelphia Style, Vanity Fair and Vogue.
In September 1998, Melania met real estate mogul Donald Trump at a party and the couple began dating while Trump was in the process of divorcing his second wife, Marla Maples. The couple married in January 2005 and welcomed a son, Barron William Trump in March 2006.

Following her husband’s successful presidential run in 2016, Melania assumed the role of first lady of the United States on January 20, 2017. And with a model in the White House, Washington fashion certainly changed forever.

On August 25, Melania addressed the Republican National Convention from the Rose Garden wearing a military khaki green ensemble by Alexander McQueen which included a peplum jacket, pencil skirt and cinched waist belt.
On August 18, Melania joined President Donald Trump at a White House event commemorating the 19th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which granted women the right to vote. For the occasion, the 50-year-old donned suffragette white by the way of a $2,195 suit from Michael Kors featuring a modern blazer with peaked lapels and an asymmetric hem paired with a classic knee-length pencil skirt. She accessorized with a black and white gingham belt that cinched her waist and matching pumps.
On August 16, Melania returned to the White House from Bedminster, New Jersey with her husband and son Barron in tow wearing a $1,635 light brown Stella McCartney organic cotton shirt dress with a knotted faux leather belt. She styled the look with Manolo Blahnik stilettos, featuring brown suede and leather pointed tips and a small brown leather Hermès Birkin bag. The bag, which Melania has in a variety of colors can retail for up to $20,000.
On July 4, participated in the 2020 Salute to America at the White House wearing a white sleeveless tea-length dress styled with a scalloped laser-cut red leather belt from Azzedine Alaia and $575 white Christian Louboutin flats. The Alaïa belt is from the famed designer’s famed 1992 Spring/Summer Ready-to-Wear collection.
June 25
On June 25, the first couple laid a wreath at the Korean War Memorial to mark the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the war. The FLOTUS chose a black and white dotted $1,300 Rosetta Getty dress and white leather Manolo Blahnik stilettos. as she paid her respects at the memorial and met with veterans who were present.

On May 27, Melania and President Trump departed for Kennedy Space Center in Florida to witness a historic launch of Space X. The former model wore a $3,450 blue and white printed sleeveless midi dress Azzedine Alaïa.

On Memorial Day, the FLOTUS sported a $3,500 white double-breasted coat with gold military style buttons by Gucci paired with her favorite white stilettos by Manolo Blahniks.

On May 8, Melania attended the wreath laying ceremony in commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of Victory in Europe Day at the WWII Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. For the serious event, she covered up in a $2,695 grey plaid wool coat by Altuzarra. Known as the “Janine” style from the design house’s Pre-Fall ’19 collection, the coat is double-breasted, midi-length and features a tailored silhouette, glossy black buttons and front flap pockets.

On April 22, Melania donned a $678 military-inspired single-breasted, cotton-blend canvas green belted trench coat by Victoria Beckham for a tree planting ceremony to commemorate Earth Day and Arbor Day, on the South Lawn of the White House. As Melania Trump arrived in Palam, New Delhi, India on February 24, she showed off a custom elegant white crêpe jumpsuit from Atelier Caito For Herve Pierre, complete with a sash made out of green silk and gold metallic thread, was found by the designer in Paris. Her go-to $665 white pumps from Manolo Blahnik completed the look.
